Bartolomeo Cristofori of Padua, Italy, invented the piano in the early 18th century; Mozart and others composed masterworks on the "pianoforte." Over the centuries, the piano has been developed to include the current Grand variation used by orchestras around the world. The Baby Grand measures 5' or less, making it more suitable for residential use.
